SEGITTUR and the UNE will present the new standard UNE 178510:2023 Smart Tourism Company (STC). Requirements and recommendations for their management and transformation, on Wednesday 24 January 2024, as part of FITUR Know-How & Export.
This standard, promoted by SEGITTUR and the Secretary of State for Tourism, specifies the requirements, recommendations and indicators applicable to the management, innovation, use of technologies, accessibility and sustainability of a tourism company, for its transformation into a Smart Tourism Company (STC). It applies to all types of tourism companies and public services linked to tourism, regardless of the subsector in which they perform their activity, or their size, location and nature.
The standard has been drawn up in the Technical Subcommittee on Standardization CTN-UNE 178/SC5 Smart Tourist Destinations, chaired by SEGITTUR, with involvement from, among other agents, the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE), together with tourism associations, destinations, companies and representatives of Autonomous Communities, who will promote the development of pilot projects in their territories under a public-private collaboration model.
Standard UNE 178510 is aligned with Standard UNE 178501 Management system of smart tourist destinations. Requirements, which marked a significant milestone in the development of Smart Tourist Destinations (STD), by following the same five areas, highlighting the value of the use of data in decision-making to drive innovation, efficiency and competitiveness in the tourism industry. Compliance with the criteria set out in this standard actively promotes the integration of companies into the STD ecosystem, guiding them in their digital and sustainable transformation.
