The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, presented the 2024 UNE Standardization and Innovation Award to IRIS Technology Solutions in recognition of its outstanding contributions to implementing and promoting the integration of standardization into R&D activities. Its Director General, Oonagh McNerney, accepted this award during the General Assembly of the Spanish Association for Standardization.
IRIS is a leading company in Europe in the manufacture of photonic and artificial intelligence solutions to control industrial and production processes in real time. It is involved in a large number of collaborative research and innovation projects in the fields of applied photonics, information and communication technologies, and the circular bioeconomy.
Over the last few years, IRIS has made UNE its strategic partner in order to include standardization activities in those R&D projects, with which to support the transfer of its results to industrial practice. Thanks to this, they participate jointly in eight Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects, in topics as varied as the circular economy, technology for health and the production of advanced materials.
With the Standardization and Innovation Award, UNE recognizes people and organizations in the field of research and innovation that stand out for their contributions in integrating or promoting standardization into research, development and innovation activities. Its purpose is to disseminate knowledge of standardisation in the Spanish and international innovative and research community, as well as to increase awareness of the benefits it provides to R&D&i activities and, therefore, to promote their use in this framework.
