The Spanish Association for Standardization has presented its UNE Awards 2024. These awards recognize the contribution of individuals and organizations to standardization. More than 14,000 experts and 6,000 organizations are actively involved in developing standards in the UNE's Technical Standards Committees.

The UNE Awards for the Presidency, Technical Committee and Representative were presented respectively to Val Díez, of the UNE Committee on Gender Equality; to the UNE Committee on Aggregates, whose Secretary is the Federation of Aggregates; and to Isabel Gonzalo Pascual, of the Division of Health Laboratories for Agricultural Production of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Elsewhere, IRIS Technology Solutions received the UNE Standardization and Innovation Award.
Madrid, 31 May 2024 - The Spanish Association for Standardization has presented its UNE Standardization Awards 2024, which recognize the commitment and professionalism of the Standardization Committees and their members. The awards were presented during the Spanish Association for Standardization's General Assembly, which was held on 30 May.
The UNE Awards are divided into four categories that recognize the work and dedication of individuals and organizations in the areas of Outstanding Technical Standardization Committee, Presidency, Representative, and Innovation. This year's winners were:

UNE Award for the most outstanding president of a CTN-UNE or SC-UNE: Val Díez, president of the UNE Committee on Gender Equality and Managing Director of STANPA, in recognition of her important role as a driver and promoter of activities the CTN-UNE 194, as its President. This committee has channelled Spain's influence on the ISO committee responsible for the development of the ISO 53800 Standard, the first global standard for gender equality and women's empowerment in organizations. More than 100 experts from over 60 countries took part in its development. Val Díez is the head of the National Association of Perfumery and Cosmetics.

López Agüí Award to the most outstanding CTN-UNE: CTN-UNE 146 Aggregates, whose secretariat leads the Federation of Aggregates. César Luaces, secretary of CTN-UNE 146 Aggregates and managing director of the Federation of aggregates, accepted this award in recognition of the positive impact of the UNE committee's activities on organizations in its sector, as well as his dynamic capacity and professionalism in complying with the procedures established in the standardization system.

UNE Award for the most outstanding CTN-UNE or SC-UNE representative: Isabel Gonzalo Pascual, from the Division of Health Laboratories of Agricultural Production of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Awarded in recognition of her remarkable interest and involvement in the work of CTN-UNE 331 Diagnostic analysis in animal health, as well as for her commitment to representation in the corresponding European and international standards bodies.

UNE Award for the Integration of Standardization in Innovation: IRIS Technology Solutions, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to implementing and promoting the integration of standardization in R&D activities. Oonagh McNerney, Director General of IRIS Technology Solutions, accepted this award.
Through these awards, the UNE highlights the work of more than 6,000 organizations and over 14,000 experts who actively participate in developing technical standards within one of UNE's 200 Technical Standardization Committees. The purpose of these Committees is to promote resilience, sustainability and security among Spanish business and to contribute to the shared progress of society.
The UNE Awards seek to recognize the efforts of all the professionals and committees that, through their work, develop standards with the aim of dealing with the major challenges facing society today, such as those related to the digital transformation or the green transition, in keeping with the UNE 2025 Strategy.
These awards also help to disseminate the multisectoral, collaborative approach embodied by UNE, as well as to boost the partnership model as an effective guarantee to respond to the needs of Spanish companies.
