UNE announces the call to participate in its fourth edition of the Award for academic work on standardisation

31/01/2019

  • The aim is to foster interest and knowledge among university students on the importance of technical standards or standards in business, legislation and professional circles.
  • This prize is open to students from any Spanish university and is divided into three categories: essay, end of degree project and master's degree final project.

31 January 2019. The Spanish Association for Standardisation-UNE, ha abierto la convocatoria al cuarto Premio sobre trabajos académicos de estandarización o normalización en su edición 2019, que tiene como objetivo fomentar entre los estudiantes universitarios el interés y el conocimiento sobre la importancia de las normas técnicas o estándares en el comercio, la legislación y en el ámbito profesional; as well as encouraging organisations to engage in standardisation.

Papers must be submitted to any Spanish university between 15 September 2018 and 15 September 2019, and must be accompanied by an abstract. Applications will be received until midnight 15 September this year, shortly before World Standards Day on 14 October 2019, and the winners will be announced on UNE's website, the organisation responsible for drafting technical standards in Spain. Proposals must be individual and original.

Work may be presented that addresses standardisation from a broad point of view and its application in fields such as digital transformation, international trade, innovation, legislation or business management (quality, sustainability, safety, etc.), among others. Technical standards are documents available to all, with a common market consensus on the best ways to address key issues in the competitiveness of organisations.

This prize is open to students from any Spanish university and is divided into three categories: essay, end of degree project and master's degree final project. For each of the categories the following prizes are offered:

- The first prize may be one of the following options:

  • A 50% discount on the cost of AENOR's "Master's Degree in Integrated Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Management Systems at Work".
  • Free enrolment on the "Master's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)" from the International University of La Rioja (UNIR).
  • Free enrolment on any course in AENOR' s training catalogue of up to 21 hours maximum.

- For the winners and two finalists from each category, UNE will publish an extract of the submitted papers or the full essay.

Full competition rules may be consulted on UNE's website.
