ICTE, UNE and AEE present the world standard for winery visits at FENAVIN

  • At the National Wine Fair, ​The Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE), the Spanish Wine Tourism Association (AEE) and the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, presented the new standard UNE-ISO 13810:2023 Tourism and Related Services. Visits to industrial, natural, cultural and historical sites.
  • The standard includes a series of requirements aimed at improving the experience and satisfaction of tourists in this type of visit, as well as the quality of the services provided by establishments.

Madrid 9 May 2023 – ​At the National Wine Fair (FENAVIN) today, the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE) alongside the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE and the Spanish Wine Tourism Association (AEE) presented the new standard UNE-ISO 13810:2023 Tourism and Related Services. Visits to industrial, natural, cultural and historical sites. This standard is developed to guarantee the quality and satisfaction of tourists in this type of tourist visit, including wineries.

During the presentation, José Antonio Vidal, President of the AEE, spoke first of the important role and relevance of wine tourism in Spain and around the world, as well as of the need to have a standard and a guide to guarantee quality in this type of space. UNE's Director of Standardisation and Stakeholders, Paloma García, went on to emphasise the role of standardisation in the tourism services sector and highlighted that this standard, approved by the ISO/TC 228 Committee made up of over 100 countries, is a common reference for wine tourism.

The Director General of the ICTE, Fernando Fraile, pointed out the important role that the ICTE has and its certification with the Q-Mark as a differentiating feature for organisations committed to guaranteed quality. Finally, the ICTE Training Manager, Noelia Santos, presented the most important aspects of the new standard, as well as its specific purpose and scope, its structure and requirements.

Ultimately, those attending this conference had the opportunity to learn about the new version of this standard and its most relevant aspects from experts in wine tourism, standardisation, quality and certification.
