On 10 July, the Spanish Association for Standardisation (UNE) held the UNE Conference: "Presentation of standard UNE-ISO/IEC 42001, the benchmark for AI management in organisations" in the auditorium of the Secretariat of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence(SEDIA), the sponsor of the event.
During the session, UNE presented the Spanish publication of standard UNE-ISO/IEC 42001, the reference standard that establishes the requirements for implementing an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) in organisations.
This standard, developed by international organisations ISO and IEC, provides a framework for managing AI in an ethical, secure and transparent manner, applicable to any type of organisation that uses products or services that utilise AI systems.
The meeting was attended by numerous experts who addressed the current regulatory context and highlighted the benefits of implementing an AI management system in organisations. Among these benefits, experts say this type of system provides greater risk control; strengthened customer, employee and other stakeholder confidence; and alignment with regulatory compliance.
Specifically, participants were Aleida Alcaide, Director General of Artificial Intelligence at the Secretariat of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA); Alberto Rodríguez, from the Deputy Directorate General for the Promotion and Regulation of AI at SEDIA; Javier García, the Director General of UNE and Vice-President of ISO; José Antonio Jiménez, Digitalisation Coordinator of UNE, and Juan Pablo Peñarrubia, Vice-President of the General Council of Professional Colleges of Computer Engineering.
The day also included a round table moderated by Paloma García, director of Standardisation Programs at UNE, which saw the participation of Ignacio Pina, from ENAC, Rafael Vergara, from AENOR, Enrique Serrano, from AMETIC, Anabel Arias, from CECU and Jaime Martel, from ITELLIGENT.
