The Ministry of Defence and the Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, are united in their view on the importance of standardisation for companies, public administrations, users and consumers. It is on this basis that the two institutions have signed a collaboration agreement, with the goal of exchanging knowledge regarding existing technical standards in the civil and defence fields, as well as collaborating together to promote, implement and spread knowledge of standardisation.
Technical standards support Public Administrations in the effective deployment of public policies. In fact, an increasing proportion of national and European regulations are based on standards to help them achieve their objectives; currently, 12% of Spanish standards (consisting of over 32,000 standards) are reflected in the national legislation.
Through this agreement, the two organisations will work together to identify the areas of collaboration necessary to promote standardisation in the civil and defence fields.
The agreement has been signed by Santiago Ramón González, Managing Director of Weaponry and Equipment for the Ministry of Defence, and Javier García, Managing Director of the Spanish Association of Standardisation, UNE.
