??Within the framework of FITUR 2023, the Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, the ONCE Foundation and the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) organised the conference "Tourism for everyone: How can companies and destinations move forward with the accessibility agenda?" The conference addressed how accessible tourism is an opportunity for the recovery of tourism activity in Spain.
The conference was inaugurated by the general director of UNE and vice-president of ISO, Javier Garc�a, together with Zoritsa Urosevic, executive director of UNWTO and Miguel Carballeda, president of the ONCE Foundation and the ONCE Social Group. During his speech, Javier Garc�a encouraged organisations to understand accessible tourism as an investment: "Accessibility is not just a matter of legal compliance, but can also be an opportunity. This is not only an equal opportunities issue, but also an important competitive advantage for destinations and the private sector. And of course, it is also a commitment to a fairer, safer, more diverse and sustainable world," he said.
Afterwards, the head of Tourism at UNE, Natalia Ortiz de Z�rate, took part in the presentation on international standardisation in the field of accessible tourism, with the participation of several experts. At this point, the Guide "How to apply the UNE-ISO 21902 Standard on Accessible Tourism for All: Requirements and recommendations for public administrations and tourist destinations" was presented,drawn up jointly by the three companies to facilitate all the agents involved in the sector to make their products and services accessible.
Smart tourist destinations
UNE was also present at the 11th edition of Fitur Know-how & Export 2023, organised by SEGITTUR and FITUR, in collaboration with ICEX Espa�a Exportaci�n e Inversiones. Paloma Garc�a, Director of Standardisation Programmes and Stakeholders of the Association, participated in the round table "Digital Transformation of Smart Tourism Destinations", in which she presented the actions being developed by UNE, in line with the work of CTN 178, in support of the transformation of cities and destinations into smart and sustainable ones.?
