UNE instrumental in creating a European document to assess the resilience of transport infrastructures

22/02/2022

The Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, today presented the Horizon 2020 R&D project, the CWA 17819 "Guidelines for the assessment of resilience of transport infrastructure to potentially disruptive events" at the final FORESEE event.. This European document is the result of the work at CEN/CENELEC of a group of experts from organisations in several countries including Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Germany, France and Spain, who, over the course of one year, agreed the processes and methodologies defined in the CWA. This group was aided by the UNE secretariat and coordinated by Bryan Adey (ETH Zürich).

ERF (European Union Road Federation) and UNE have led standardisation work.

The CWA is based on two of the deliverables of the European R&D&i Horizon 2020 FORESEE project that involve assessing the resilience of roads, railways and other transport infrastructures in the face of extreme events caused by both natural and human factors, The document was made possible thanks to the work of experts from organisations in several countries including Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Germany, France and Spain, who, over the course of one year, agreed the processes and methodologies defined in the CWA.

This presentation was held at the closing event of the FORESEE project. The event was also attended by representatives of the European Commission, World Road Association, European Union Road Federation, Tecnalia, which leads FORESEE, the University of Cantabria and CEMOSA, among other organisations.
