The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, received at its headquarters a visit from two members of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). David Nix, Digital Transformation Officer, and Katharine Fraga, Director of Membership, Affiliates & Capacity Building, were hosted by Javier García, UNE's Director General and Vice-President of ISO.
At their meetings, they identified the opportunities offered by new digital tools to facilitate the work of experts in technical bodies and provide the flexibility needed to offer products and services based on the content of the standards that satisfy the needs of end users.
Present at the meetings were Virginia Vidal Acero, UNE's Director of Processes and Technology; Miguel Ángel Aranda, Head of International Relations; and Nadia Blázquez Fernández, Translation and Review Coordinator.
One of the goals of the UNE 2025 Strategy is the digital transformation of the Company, which includes four key points: produce standards suitable for the digital economy; transform the process of developing standards; transform the UNE's financing model to suit the digital age; and take care of UNE's professionals and ensure their digital training. The Spanish standards body is making a major contribution to this goal in order to improve its processes and efficiency.
