The International Padel Cluster (CIP) has joined UNE as a new corporate member. This global cluster brings together manufacturers, producers and distributors of products associated with the sport of padel, as well as companies from all categories of this industry: paddles, balls, apparel, footwear, courts, accessories, retail, events, marketing and services.
With the aim of boosting the competitiveness and global leadership of the national padel industry, both entities will work on the development of a pioneering national UNE standard that will establish uniform safety requirements for the installation of padel courts, providing a single reference for both public and private contracting.
This future standard, expected to be published in May 2024, will establish the essential requirements to be met by manufacturers and builders for padel courts, aimed at guaranteeing their uniformity and safety. The standard will be certifiable by independent third parties.
Spain will lead the conversion of the UNE norm into an international ISO standard, which will provide a global benchmark for the installation of these sports courts.
UNE has held a welcoming ceremony with the participation of UNE's president, Alfredo Berges; the Director General of UNE, Javier García; his advisor, José García-Morales; director of Standardisation Programmes and Stakeholders, Paloma García; UNE's Coordinator of Organisations and Institutions, Fernando Machicado; CIP President, Jorge Gómez de la Vega; and the secretary/coordinator of the CIP, Jaume Ferrer.
