UNE members formed the Market Surveillance Observatory

03/04/2020

On Thursday 2 April, the members of the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, formed a new Advisory Commission: the multi-sectoral Market Surveillance Observatory. The main mission is to support and complement its activities in the field of Market Surveillance, in particular in support of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and in relation to the future Spanish Market Surveillance Strategy, with the aim of strengthening public-private collaboration in this area.

This Observatory includes 25 organisations, members of UNE, representing both national associations and the central and autonomous Public Administrations, as well as other relevant organisations.

Among the main objectives established at the first online meeting, the following are highlighted:

  • Establish a map of skills and identification of the different interlocutors.
  • Draw up a report that helps to raise awareness on the importance of market surveillance.
  • Conduct dissemination and communication work on market surveillance.

UNE is a public-private partnership model and a successful multi-sectoral platform, making standardisation a potential tool in the Spanish market surveillance strategy available to all.
