La Asociación Española de Normalización, UNE, firma la Declaración sobre la Integración de Perspectiva de Género en Normas Técnicas y Estándares, y dentro de su Proceso de Desarrollo promovida por Naciones Unidas.
The Declaration is framed in the Gender Responsive Standards Initiative that acts under the umbrella of the Working Group of the UNECE (The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) on Statutory Cooperation and Standardisation Policies (WP6). This Working Group promotes the use of technical standards by policy-makers and companies as a tool for reducing technical barriers in trade; it fosters innovation and good governance; and it defends the use of technical standards in the implementation of all the UN's objectives, including the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
The Gender Responsive Standards Initiative seeks to, among others objectives, strengthen the use of technical standards and regulations as powerful tools to achieve the SDG 5 (to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls); integrate gender equality in the development of technical standards and regulations; and to develop gender indicators and criteria that could be used in the development of technical standards and regulations.
With the signing of the Declaration, UNE demonstrates its commitment to gender equality and the strengthening of the role of technical standards for the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
