UNE adopts the Code of Good Practices of EJE&CON

28/05/2025

The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, has joined the Code of Good Practices for Talent Management and Improving Business Competitiveness of the Spanish Association of Executives and Board Members (EJE&CON). UNE’s Director of HR and Legal Affairs, Nuria Alcañiz, received the certificate at a ceremony held on 27 May at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services.

This distinction recognizes UNE’s commitment to talent and diversity. As part of its strategy, the Spanish standardization body promotes genuine gender equality. UNE considers it essential to build a more equal world, where women's perspectives and voices are represented across all areas — as this is the only way to effectively address the challenges facing society.

In this context, UNE and its standardization activities play a key role in promoting genuine gender equality through various initiatives. One example is the global standard UNE-ISO 53800, which provides guidelines, tools, good practices and other resources to support gender equality and the empowerment of women in organizations of all types and across the world. UNE was actively involved in drafting this standard within ISO and led its translation into Spanish. Additionally, a Spanish-language brochure on the UNE-ISO 53800 standard was published by the ISO Advisory Group on Communication and Engagement, coordinated by Isabel Alonso Matey from EJE&CON.

The Code of Good Practices for Talent Management and Improving Business Competitiveness is an initiative of the Corporate Governance Committee of EJE&CON. Its goal is to help Spanish organizations and entities adopt specific measures that enhance their competitiveness and performance by enabling gender-neutral talent to flourish and facilitating women’s access to senior management positions on equal terms and in similar proportions to men. The document is endorsed by more than 200 Spanish companies of all sizes and across various production sectors.

The award ceremony took place during the EJE&CON event: “Good Governance Committee | From Commitment to Action: Talent and Diversity Management for a More Competitive Company”, where the updated version of the Code of Good Practices was presented. Various organizations also shared key insights on how to adapt to new professional expectations and how to attract and retain gender-neutral talent.
