Publication of UNE-EN 9100:2018 - Quality management systems. Requirements for aviation, space, and defence organisations

18/07/2018

The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE has just published standard UNE-EN 9100:2018, a new version that rescinds and substitutes the earlier UNE-EN 9100:2010.

The main changes with respect to the previous version are those derived from adapting the text of the standard UNE-EN 9100:2018 “Quality management systems. Requirements for Aviation, Space, and Defence Organisations” to the quality management system requirements of UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015, as well as detailing the requirements, definitions, and additional notes specific to the aviation, space and defence industry.

The standard UNE-EN ISO 9100:2018 can be used at all levels of the supply chain, anywhere in the world, and is addressed at organizations that design, develop, or produce services within the aviation, space, and defence sector, and by organizations that provide a post-delivery service. Nonetheless, two specific complementary standards have also been developed for companies who perform maintenance tasks and those that carry out distribution activities, UNE-EN 9110:2018 “Quality management systems. Requirements for maintenance organizations of the aeronautical industry” and UNE-EN 9120:2018 “Aerospace material. Quality Management Systems. Requirements for aviation, space and defence distributors.”

Lastly, to complete the standards package, the UNE-EN 9101:2018 “Quality management systems has also been published. Audit requirements for Aviation, Space and Defence Organisations”, which establishes the requirements for auditing quality management systems and drawing up the necessary reports.
