SDG 4: Quality Education

13/06/2019

Education is the basis to improving our life and sustainable development. Over 265 million children are currently out of school and 22% of them are of primary school age. The aim of SDG 4 on Quality Education is to guarantee inclusive, equitable and quality education.

The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, has standards in line with these principles in its catalogue. One of them is the UNE-ISO 21001 Standard that specifies the requirements for a management system for educational organizations wishing to demonstrate their capacity to provide, share and transfer knowledge to students.

Its objective is to define a framework, aligned with the ISO 9001 Standard, that specifies the minimum common requirements for organizations to provide products and services that meet the quality of all interested parties. In this sense, the UNE 172402 Standard on service management in children's schools should be highlighted.

In addition, the international cooperation activities carried out by UNE contribute towards achieving two of the goals of this SDG, which focus on increasing the supply of qualified teachers, including through international cooperation for teacher training in developing countries. and to increase the number of young people and adults who have the necessary skills, particularly technical and professional skills, to access employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.
