New UNE standards in Catalan

El TERMCAT and the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, have had an agreement since 2005 to translate and publish UNE standards in Catalan. Thanks to this collaboration, nearly 50 standards are now published in Catalan, in fields as diverse as quality management (UNE-EN ISO 9001), environmental management (UNE-EN ISO 14001) and information security (UNE-EN ISO/IEC 27001).

UNE standards are now translated into Catalan, Basque and Galician, which helps to broaden the scope of their use among different business fabrics. Standards reflect the market consensus on best practices in key aspects for the competitiveness of organisations, and are the result of joint collaboration of economic sectors and Public Administrations. They provide an effective response to the major challenges facing companies and organisations.

With the renewal of this agreement, key standards such as the UNE-ISO 19601 on Criminal Compliance Management Systems and UNE-ISO 19600 on Compliance Management Systems will be translated. Guidelines, among others.

The managing director of UNE, Javier García and the managing director of TERMCAT, Jordi Bover, have signed the renewal contract.

This year, the translation of standards received the support of the Barcelona County Council, within the framework of the various agreements signed with the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

On the TERMCAT page, you will find the list of UNE standards translated into Catalan. They are also available on the UNE website and the website of the Association and College of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia.

The Consortium of the Center for Terminology TERMCAT is the official body in charge of Catalan language terminology. It was founded in 1985 by the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Institut d'Estudis Catalans.
