10/04/2025

The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, has published the Spanish version of a new ISO standard in the social sector to facilitate its understanding and use in a market of more than 600 million Spanish speakers. It is being added to the national catalogue of standards as UNE-ISO 30415 Human resources management. Diversity and inclusion, and it is available on the UNE website.

The standard is aimed at companies and all types of organizations that are sensitive to diversity and inclusion, and that, either voluntarily or to aid in fulfilling their legal obligations, seek to make the workplace an inclusive space. This is a forward-looking commitment, as organizations that aim to increase their resilience, sustainability, and reputation are aware of the importance of having people who reflect society. Customers, partners, investors, and other stakeholders are sensitive to the actions of companies and make their decisions based on them.

This standard provides guidance and methods on: the prerequisites for demonstrating ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion; accountability and responsibilities in these areas; approaches for assessing diversity and promoting the development of an inclusive workplace; the identification of objectives, opportunities, risks, actions, measures, outcomes, and impacts.

Diversity and inclusion must be understood from all angles of the organization; therefore, they must be considered in human resources management, the delivery of products and services, relationships with the supply chain (suppliers and subcontractors), and relationships with all external stakeholders. The model proposed in the standard takes a continuous improvement approach and, therefore, requires review and maintenance once implemented to ensure it does not become obsolete; additionally, it may be subject to third-party evaluation.
