UNE standards, the key to exports in the electrical sector

The electricity sector is one of the industries most familiarised with the benefits of standardisation. In fact, it represents 23.4% of the Spanish standards catalogue, with 7,750 UNE standards.

Standards are the key for companies in the electricity sector to access exportation; 90% of the standards related to this sector are European, while 75% are also international, thus facilitating internationalisation and trade for Spanish companies.

In addition, standards help manufacturers and distributors of electricity products to comply with the legislation and guarantee their safety, quality and functionality, establishing common rules of the game.

Thanks to the standardisation drawn up by UNE, together with the main actors, transparent and global markets are being constructed, eliminating technical barriers to trade. This Association is the voice for Spanish companies before global forums where the key standards that enable them to compete are created.

The Spanish standards body has launched its Firm Steps campaign with the aim of highlighting the benefits of technical standards for the economic, business and consumer sectors.
