UNE has drawn up a report with the aim of providing an overview of the status of standardisation in some key areas relating to roads and of how standardisation can be a useful tool in the development of related policies and strategies.
Roads are key to the economic and social development of a country with a clear impact on aspects such as employment, education, transport and communications... in short, they are of benefit to society's overall well-being.
Standardisation, through the many fields in which it is developed, constitutes a fundamental tool and support in issues affecting planning and road building, road maintenance, road operations, road safety, the application of new ICTs or the environmental impact that having roads entails.
