The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, has recently participated in the course "Innovation in public policies in tourism and tools for Smart Tourism Destinations" that took place in Montevideo (Uruguay).
This training event was organised by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Spanish State Companies Society for Innovation Management and Tourism Technologies (SEGITTUR) and the Spanish Embassy in Uruguay.
Paloma García, Director of Standardisation Programmes and Interest Groups at UNE, gave a workshop on how the use of standards is an innovative element in public management.
In addition, the representative of the Spanish standardisation organisation presented the advantages of addressing the transformation from a tourist destination to an intelligent tourist destination according to the management model set out in the UNE 178501 standard on Smart Tourist Destinations. Formulated with the consensus and participation of the entire tourism sector, this Spanish standard is a global pioneer in its field.
The module was completed with the ICTE (Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality), the Tourism Foundation in Benidorm and the Smart Tourism Destinations Network sharing their experiences in its implementation.
