The UNE-EN ISO/ASTM 52910:2020 Additive Manufacturing. Design. Requirements, directives and recommendations (ISO/ATSM 52910:2018) Standard is now available in Spanish.
This document establishes the requirements, guidelines and recommendations for using Additive Manufacturing (AM) or 3D Printing technology in the design of all types of products, devices, systems, components or parts.
Due to the shortage of protective equipment caused by the COVID-19 crisis, Additive Manufacturing has taken on a higher profile in the production of protective screens (structure, band and visor) as a barrier for protecting the nose, mouth and eyes from exposure to the virus, without intending to replace duly approved devices.
The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, has adopted this standard in the national catalogue, drawn up within the joint group ISO/TC 261 Additive Manufacturing and ASTM F42 Additive Manufacturing Technologies.
It is applicable during the design of all types of products, devices, systems, components or parts manufactured using any type of additive system. This document helps to determine what design considerations can be used in a design project or to make use of the capabilities of an AM process.
General guidance and problem identification are permitted, but specific design solutions and specific process or material details are not supported.
This standard will be very useful for all types of users:
- Designers of products to be manufactured in an AM system and their managers;
- Students of mechanical design and computer-assisted design; and
- Developers of AM design guidelines and design guide systems.
