The General Secretary of ISO (International Organization for Standardization), Sergio Mujica, met this morning with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism in office, Reyes Maroto. The Chairman and the Managing Director of the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, Carlos Esteban and Javier García, respectively, were also present.
During the meeting, the heads of the international and national standardization organizations discussed with the Minister the important role of ISO and UNE standards in support of the competitiveness of Spanish companies and institutions.
ISO standards are the leading international standards that guarantee the quality and safety of products and services, as well as international trade.
They examined some examples of how standards are supporting areas of interest in the Spanish production fabric, such as the digitization of industry, the circular economy, exports from Spanish companies, tourism and SDGs.
The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, is the Spanish standardization body that represents the nation on European and international standardization bodies by ensuring that recommendations made by experts from Spanish organizations are heard by the global forums where the standards that enable them to compete are created.
