Standards, the key to the SDGs

13/11/2019

This morning, the Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, hosted the seminar 'Standards, the key to the SDGs' at the CEOE headquarters, and at which leading experts underlined the key role of standards as a first level help in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

There are over 4,000 UNE standards in the Spanish catalogue, comprising almost 33,000 documents that help organisations to achieve the different SDGs, since they help facilitate a common ground of understanding and provide measurable criteria based on knowledge, consensus and collaboration, so essential in meeting this global challenge.

During the seminar, three successful cases of Spanish UNE standards were presented that guide companies in achieving the SDGs.

The General Secretary of ISO, Sergio Mujica, participated in the event; The General Secretary of CEOE, José Alberto González-Ruiz; The Director of the High Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda, Federico Buyolo; The Director of Research, Development and Tourism Innovation at SEGITTUR, Carlos Romero; The Managing Director of OPAGAC, Julio Morón; The Managing Director of ASPAPEL, Carlos Reinoso; Chief Executive Officer of UNE, Javier García, and Chairman of UNE, Carlos Esteban.
