Last week, Spain became the epicentre of European and global standardisation. In addition to the Seminar "Standardisation: A strategic instrument for climate and digital transition", which the UNE held in conjunction with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism on 10 October in Madrid, within the framework of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, two meetings were held with the European standardisation bodies ETSI (European Institute of Telecommunication Standards) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission).
On 9 October, the UNE received an institutional visit from the ETSI Director General Luis Jorge Romero, and held a meeting with UNE Members to discuss standardisation trends in the field of telecommunications and ICT. Members also exchanged different points of view on how standards are supporting the regulatory scenario and the challenges faced by organisations in this area. The following UNE members attended the event, either in person or online: AMETIC, AFME, COITT, FAIIE, Televes, Huawei Technologies España, Wireless Partners, LLC, Kron World and Telefónica.
On 11 October, Philippe Metzger, the Secretary General and Director General of IEC, visited UNE and held a meeting with UNE Members to discuss the challenges of Spanish economic agents in IEC and talk about how the organisation can support access to international markets and the development of national strategies through standards and compliance assessment activities. This meeting was attended by the following members, both in person and online: AFME, Anfalum AIIM, AEE, FACEL, APPA, COITT, Fundación para el Fomento de la Innovación Industrial, Mondragón Componentes, Red Eléctrica, Tecnatom, UNEF, Ormazabal and Wallbox Energy.
