The November issue of the UNE magazine is now available. In this edition, we explore key topics in both international and national standardization, highlighting the following:
Madrid has established itself as the European capital of quantum standardisation.
The Quantum Technologies: Standardisation and European Ecosystem workshop was held together with the Plenary Meeting of the European Committee for Quantum Technologies, highlighting Spain's leadership in a field destined to transform computing, secure communications and the development of advanced sensors.
The standards for conformity assessment of bodies that carry out inspection (ISO/IEC 17020) and certification of persons (ISO/IEC 17024), published in 2012, are being revised and have already reached the FDIS stage, a formal vote. These third editions are expected to be released in early 2026.
The growing consumption of energy, water, and materials resulting from the use of artificial intelligence is causing increasing levels of concern among governments and international organisations. The UNE 0086:2025 Specification offers a framework to promote more efficient and sustainable AI, reducing its environmental footprint and aligning digitalisation with climate goals.
- César Bartolomé, Technical Director of the Spanish Institute of Cement and its Applications (IECA), is promoting the ecological and digital transition of the sector through standardisation and data traceability. It is leading the way in Europe and reinforcing Spain's position as a benchmark for innovation and sustainability in infrastructure.
ANFALUM is driving the standardisation of the lighting sector through the CTN-UNE 205 and CTN-UNE 72 committees, working to regulate new technologies such as LED, guarantee quality and strengthen the competitiveness of the Spanish industry in global markets.
