UNE Meetings May-June 2020

The Spanish Association for Standardization is launching an ambitious cycle of webinars entitled "UNE Meetings," aimed at sharing the knowledge and contribution of business management standards with which to confront this crisis, in a bid to generate confidence.

The webinar meetings will be analysing key aspects such as risk management, business continuity, resilience, industrial digitisation and cybersecurity. This cycle begins on 14 May with a webinar on Risk Management, in which the participants include the Secretary-General of ISO, Segio Mujica and the Managing Director of UNE, Javier Garcia.

The "UNE Meetings" are open to all organisations that want to be able to count on support tools for their return to the new normal.

This ambitious cycle of webinars will cover a total of 6 sessions that will take place between May and June, with a duration of about 90 minutes. The format and time chosen, at 17:30, facilitates the participation of a greater number of experts, at a time of confinement and teleworking.

These sessions are grouped into three blocks:

  •  Block I: Contribution of UNE and ISO business management standards in scenarios of crisis: Risk Management, Business Continuity and Organisational and Social Resistance.
 

1st UNE Meeting: 14 May. Risk Management as a business strategy

This first "UNE Meeting," which will be opened by the Secretary-General of ISO, Sergio Mujica and the Managing Director of UNE, Javier García, starts on 14 May with a presentation on the international reference standards for approaching risk management in a business scenario, together with an experience of real implementation.

Among other standards, the following will be addressed: 

  • UNE-ISO 31000 Risk management. Guidelines
  • UNE-ISO/TR 31004 Guidelines for the implementation of the ISO 31000 Standard
  • IEC 31010 Risk management. Risk assessment techniques
  • IWA 31 Risk management. Guidelines for the use of the Standard ISO 31000 on management systems

2nd UNE Meeting: 20 May. How to approach business continuity

In this second "UNE Meeting" we will be reflecting on the importance of adequate business continuity management, which is consolidated as a key element in adapting organisations to the current changing business environment.

Among other standards, the following will be addressed: 

  • UNE-EN ISO 22300 Safety and resilience. Vocabulary
  • UNE-EN ISO 22301 Security and resilience. Business continuity management system. Requirements
  • UNE-EN ISO 22313 Security and resilience. Business continuity management systems. Guidelines for the use of the ISO 22301 Standard
  • UNE-ISO/TS 22317 Protection and security of citizens. Business continuity management systems. Guidelines for analysing the impact on business
  • UNE-ISO/TS 22331 Security and resilience. Business continuity management systems. Guidelines for the business continuity strategy

3rd UNE Meeting: 27 May. Organisational and social resilience

This third "UNE Meeting" will be addressing the issue of organisational and social resilience. This refers to "the ability of an organisation to anticipate, prepare, respond and adapt to exponential change and sudden interruptions to survive and prosper." In this webinar we will be sharing how organisations can strengthen their resilience in order to be able to effectively anticipate and deal with risks and vulnerabilities, thus making it one of their strategic objectives.

Among other standards, the following will be addressed: 

  • UNE-ISO 22316 Security and resilience. Organizational resilience. Principles and attributes
  • UNE-ISO/TS 22330 Security and resilience. Business continuity management systems. Guidelines for people aspects of business continuity

4th UNE Meeting: 3 June. The importance of the digitisation of the industry in the current scenario

The fourth "UNE Meeting" will be addressing the subject of digitisation of industrial technology in the current context of crisis. In this scenario, a higher profile is given to specifications such as UNE 0060 and UNE 0061 that set the requirements for an Industry to be considered Digital. Developed with the impetus of MINCOTUR, they are aimed at promoting the complete digitisation of industrial companies, via an effective management system, committed to continuous improvement.

5th UNE Meeting: 10 June. Cybersecurity I: A sectoral necessity

In the fifth "UNE Meeting," cybersecurity will be analysed, from the perspective of sectoral necessity. Cybersecurity is now more important than ever. The public and private sector is increasingly relying on technology and the whole universe is becoming increasingly more connected. This scenario opens up opportunities for growth as a society, but also requires addressing privacy, data protection and network, product and service security challenges. This webinar will be presenting the work plan of the national cybersecurity committee.

6th UNE Meeting: 17 June. Cybersecurity II: The role of cybersecurity standards in the European regulatory environment

The sixth "UNE Meeting" will be taking a deeper look into the role that standards play in the effective implementation of the Spanish Cybersecurity Strategy, as well as in the recent European regulatory framework, GDPR, eIDAS, the European Cybersecurity Framework or the NIS Directive. This webinar will be presenting the plan to promote the creation of new European standards to create confidence in the Digital Single Market.
