The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, presents a video with the highlights from the Conference “Support for writing sustainability reports", held to mark World Standards Day. The event highlighted the key role of standards to help organisations in their ESG (environmental, social and good governance) reporting.
It also includes statements by four of its key figures: the president of UNE, Alfredo Berges; the Director-General and vice president of ISO, Javier García; the General Secretary of ISO, Sergio Mujica; and the Managing Director of Industrial Strategy and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, Jordi García Brustenga.
Javier García highlights in the video that the purpose of the session was to “help raise awareness among business sectors about how ISO standards can help them to demonstrate their progress and their commitment to sustainability".
“The ISO Strategy is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, because we believe that international standards play a key role in addressing sustainability challenges", explains Sergio Mujica.
In the words of Alfredo Berges: “On this occasion, we wanted to present the advantages and support that standardisation represents for companies in the challenge of sustainability, linked to the mandatory audits they have to complete".
Jordi García Brustenga emphasised that “SMEs and UNE are driving the industry because they normalise the changes we are currently experiencing and therefore ensure certainty for companies".
