On 18 October, the "Environmental Management" CTN-UNE 150 held its plenary meeting at the Airbus Defence and Space headquarters in Getafe, thanks to the vice-chairman of the committee, José Luis Ortiz. At the meeting, all the latest national and international ISO and CEN regulatory developments related to environmental management were reviewed.
With regard to the amendment of the UNE-EN ISO 14001 Standard, which is scheduled for publication in the third quarter of 2025, the inclusion of clarifications related to sustainability initiatives and global challenges was addressed, as were key topics such as life cycle, risks and opportunities, and integration of EMS in business management systems; as well as organisations' consideration of climate change.
Among other topical issues discussed, he highlighted the development of a future EN-ISO 14019 standard for the validation and verification of sustainability information, and the use of environmental management standards in the European regulation proposal on the ecological design requirements that apply to sustainable products.
