Quality Infrastructure. A lever for progress and economic growth

22/12/2025

The December issue of UNE magazine is now available. In this edition, we explore key topics in both international and national standardization, highlighting the following:

  • Quality infrastructure: a lever for progress and economic growth
Robust, effective and clearly defined infrastructure helps a country's economic players take strategic decisions. In Spain, coordination between UNE, CEM and ENAC bolsters this ecosystem and its role in economic growth, improving productivity, innovation and sustainability.
  • CEN/TC 321 'Explosives for civil uses'
This CEN committee, led by Spain, published a complete revision of 54 standards on explosives for civil uses in 2025, expanding and updating safety requirements, terminology and testing methods. This regulatory package, the outcome of several years of hard technical work, comes in response to a mandate from the European Commission to simplify harmonisation and compliance with EU law.
  • Tuna from responsible fishing: Spanish leadership in sustainability
The publication of the new UNE 195006:2025 standard addresses consumer and distributor requirements for ethical and traceability progress in fishing for tuna, one of the most sought-after fishery products. This standard, supported by the Spanish industry and representatives from across the value chain, is a key tool for identifying responsible products and bolstering competitiveness in the markets.
  • Standardisation in action: CTN-UNE 335 Data-driven agrifood systems
In the digital age, the agrifood system faces challenges which call for fast and informed decision-making backed by data collection and analysis. The new CTN-UNE 335 committee promotes standards to enable agrifood systems to harness the value of data and digitalisation throughout the food chain. Its work, aligned with ISO/TC 347 internationally, drives interoperability and the reliability of information which is crucial for more efficient, sustainable and resilient decision-making.
