World Maritime Day is celebrated on 27 September. Within the area of standardization, there are technical committees responsible for drafting documents aimed at this sector.
Technical Standardization Committee CTN 27 “Shipbuilding and ship repair industry, equipment and marine technology” is responsible for standardization in the field of design, processes and products of shipyards, equipment manufacturers and related industries that are used in shipbuilding, maintenance and repair of ships, vessels and floating or fixed maritime equipment, both in coastal waters and in high seas. Issues related to pollution, the marine environment in matters regarding shipbuilding and repair, including the design of ships and equipment, cleaning processes in shipyards and the recycling of ships at the end of their service life are also included.
