The UNE Committee on Gender Equality has been created, chaired by Val Díez (Stanpa)

27/04/2022

The Spanish Association for Standardization, has created the UNE Committee on Gender equality (CTN 194), with the aim of channelling the Spanish position and influence on what will become the first global standard in this field. In its inaugural meeting, Val Díez, CEO of Stanpa (National Perfumery and Cosmetics Association) and chair of the CEOE Equality and Diversity Commission, was appointed chair of this UNE Committee.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) works on the international standard ISO 53800 "Guidelines for the promotion and implementation of gender equality", which is scheduled to be published by the end of 2023. This is a project that, under the leadership of the French standardisation organisation AFNOR, has generated great interest and which places Standardisation, once again, at the forefront of the issues concerning society, contributing to promoting a better and fairer world, translating into improving the living and working conditions of women and girls in line with the UN SDG 5 Gender Equality.

Companies and all types of organisations can participate in and contribute to the development of this standard though the national mirror committee. UNE, the Spanish member of the ISO, carries the voice of Spanish industry experts to international and European standardisation forums, where key standards are developed to respond to the leading challenges facing organisations and Spanish society.

The UNE Committee on Gender Equality is made up of broad and diverse representation of stakeholders, including the CEOE employers' association, specialist gender consultants, civil society organisations, trade unions and professional associations, among others.

UNE is a successful public-private partnership model aimed at contributing to building a better, safer and more sustainable world through the development of standards based on dialogue and consensus.
