The Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, has held its annual meeting of chairpersons and secretaries of Technical Committees for Standardisation (CTNs), which took place online this year. In the event, the Institution awarded its UNE Awards in its 2020 edition, which recognise the outstanding contribution of individuals and organisations to standardisation.
More than 200 chairpersons and secretaries of CTNs participated in the session. These events strengthen the multi-sectorial collaborative environment represented by UNE, strengthening the associative model as an effective guarantee of response to the needs of Spanish companies and public administrations.
Among the topics covered, the annual session addressed the contribution of the Association in the current crisis, the digital transformation of standardisation and the evolution to a sustainable model for the functioning of CTNs.
The event was attended by the Chairman and Managing Director of UNE, Carlos Esteban and Javier García, respectively, among others.
UNE Prizes
The Awards were presented, respectively, on:
- UNE Award for the Integration of Standardisation and Innovation in 2020: for Tecnalia, represented by its CEO Iñaki San Sebastian, for its outstanding contribution in this field. As well as participating in over 40 technical standardisation bodies, Tecnalia has collaborated with UNE on 26 proposals for European Horizon 2020 projects, 10 of which also received funding and are developing new standardisation activities.
- UNE award to the outstanding president: Manuel Carbó, president of CTN 118 Tobacco and tobacco products, for his task as a driver and promoter of this CTN's activities.
- UNE award to the outstanding CTN: CTN 211 Electric energy cables, whose secretary manages FACEL (The Spanish Association for Manufacturers of Electric Cables and Conductors and Fibre Optics). The award was presented to its secretary, Xavier Cesari.
- UNE award to the outstanding member: Roberto Arias and Susana Rodríguez, of the company Zitron, for their role in CTN 100 Heating and Air Conditioning, as a result of their involvement and trajectory in this Committee.
