Collaboration between PTEC, SEOPAN and UNE for recovery and resilience projects

24/02/2021

The Spanish Construction Technology Platform (PTEC), the Association of Construction Companies and Infrastructure Concessionaires (SEOPAN) and the Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, are working closely together on proposals related to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (España Puede).

In this way, PTEC has become the technology platform that has most rapidly assimilated the potential of standardisation in its activities related to this Plan. With the collaboration of UNE, it has already included this aspect in all its expressions of interest in the fields of circular economy, digitalisation of transport, energy communities and PERTE projects to this point.

The Spanish Construction Technology Platform is made up of technology companies, associations, universities, technology and research centres and sector clients throughout the entire value chain, aiming to contribute to improvement through research and innovation. Created in 2004, in which SEOPAN, a member of UNE, is also a member, it is made up of 140 entities that collaborate in 8 technological and 3 horizontal working groups.

Technology Platforms are industry-led organisations in which all agents of a given science-technology-innovation system interested in a specific field work together to identify and prioritise technological research and innovation needs. Their main objective is to achieve scientific and technological advances that ensure the competitiveness, sustainability and growth of the business network, aligning the strategies of the various agents with the platform's overall R&D&I effort.

The role of standardisation as a means of transmitting new knowledge and generalising innovative best practices in productive sectors is essential to giving medium-term continuity to the results of a plan that aims to transform the country's industry by promoting its digitalisation, sustainability and internationalisation.

UNE is the instrument of Spanish productive sectors to develop norms or standards and to defend their interests in European and international standardisation bodies, through a model of public-private collaboration.

The use of standardisation as a lever for dissemination and exploitation of results in the field of innovation, well demonstrated by the European programme Horizon 2020, makes cooperation with Technology Platforms an effective tool to enhance their objectives, with the PTEC being a notable example of this.
