Carlos Esteban Portal has been re-elected Chairman by the Board of Directors of the Spanish Association for Standardisation - UNE. Esteban is the AFME (Spanish Association of Electrical Equipment Manufacturers) representative. Alfredo Berges Valdecantos was also elected Deputy Chairman of the Company. He is UNE's representative from ANFALUM (Spanish Association of Lighting Manufacturers).
Carlos Esteban Portal has been the Chairman of the Company since 2015 and has been involved in its Governing Bodies since 2006. Throughout his career, Esteban Portal has worked in multinational enterprises linked to the electrical equipment production sector. He also presides over AFME, the association that brings together producers in the sector. He is an industrial engineer and a law graduate.
In the vote, the Board of Directors selected five members of the UNE Standing Committee. In addition to the Chairman they elected:
- Luis Rodulfo Zabala (CEPCO,Spanish Confederation of Construction Materials Manufacturers' Associations)
- Fernando Fraile García (ICTE, Institute for Tourism Quality in Spain)
- - Ricardo Cortés Sánchez (SEOPAN, Spanish Association of Construction Companies and Infrastructure Concession Groups).
- María del Rocío Pérez Diestro (Telefónica, Spain S.A.U.)
Four existing members of the UNE Standing Committee continue to serve:
- Alfredo Berges Valdecantos (ANFALUM, Spanish Association of Lighting Manufacturers), now Deputy Chairman of UNE
- Edmundo Fernández Puértolas (AMETIC, Association of Businesses in the Electronics, ITC, Telecommunications and Digital Content sectors) - UNE Treasurer
- Segundo de Pablo Alonso (FACEL, Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Electrical and Fibre Optic Cables and Conductors)
- Juan Ramón Durán Puebla (SERCOBE, National Association of Capital Goods Manufacturers)
Also on the Standing Committee is José Manuel Prieto Barrio (Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism).
UNE's partnership base is made up of more than 550 members, representing virtually all of Spain's productive sector. These include the main business associations, top Spanish companies, and a significant representation of Public Entities from all levels.
