CEN campaign on the importance of service standards


El Comité Europeo de Normalización (CEN), cuyo miembro español es la Asociación Española de Normalización, UNE, ha lanzado la campaña de comunicación "Standards4Services. Standards are enablers of success", which will be held between 9 and 20 September. Through #Standards4Services, CEN will illustrate in a didactic way how standards for services are developed and give examples of outstanding standards and their benefits for the European services industry and consumers.

With this campaign, the European standardisation organisation aims to highlight the importance of service standards in support of the Single Market. Currently, the services sector represents 70% of the EU's GDP. That's why it has developed a strategic plan aimed at developing standards that effectively respond to the challenges faced by organisations, with the participation of all parties involved. Service sector standards are a competitive tool that enable companies to measure and improve the quality of the services they provide, while generating consumer confidence.

The campaign starts with a video by Javier García, Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Group on Services of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and CEO of UNE. In the video, Javier García highlights how standards enable business success and encourages companies, public authorities and other stakeholders to participate in developing them.

UNE is the Spanish standardisation body that represents the nation on European and international standardisation bodies by ensuring that recommendations made by experts from Spanish organisations are heard by the global forums where the standards that enable them to compete are created.
