COPANT's General Assembly 2019

14/05/2019

Once again, the Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE) participated in the General Assembly of Pan American Standards Commission (COPANT) 2019, held in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia); it was also attended by all the standardisation entities from across the Americas.

UNE participated in several of the panels dedicated to sharing best practices on the use of standards in innovation and as a basis for free-trade agreements; similarly, bilateral meetings have been held in order to monitor the collaboration agreements that the Association has signed with Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

In addition, during the Assembly, UNE signed an agreement with NYCE (Mexico) for the technical harmonisation of the electronics, chemistry, plastics and cosmetics industries.

COPANT is the benchmark committee for technical standardisation and conformity assessment in the Americas and promotes its members' development.

UNE is the Spanish standardisation organisation in COPANT, and is also present in ISO, IEC, CEN, CENELEC and ETSI; thus, it represents Spanish sectors at international and European forums on standardisation that draw up key standards to enable them to compete.
