The Spanish Association for Standardisation and the Portuguese Quality Institute (IPQ) held on Wednesday 19 February a meeting at UNE's headquarters in which they examined synergies and potential collaboration projects. IPQ is the Portuguese standardisation body and the National Metrology Institution coordinates the Portuguese Quality System (SPQ) and other regulatory rating systems.
Following the presentation of the participants of both organisations and the corresponding institutional introductions, a number of strategic topics were addressed including: coordination of European and international standardisation structures to enhance the European standardisation system and its sustainability; priority areas such as decarbonisation, renewable energies, digitalisation, innovation, strategic autonomy and ESG aspects; digitalisation and tools to support the standardisation system and possible joint strategies to promote standardisation among SMEs and attract the interest of stakeholders, young people and academia; and the use of standards in legislation.
Taking part in the bilateral meeting from IPQ were: its chairman, João Pimentel; Maria João Graça, member of the Governing Board; Inês Judas, Director of the Standardisation Department; and Isabel Godinho, Director of the Metrology Department. From UNE: Paloma García, Director of Standardisation Programmes and Stakeholder Engagement; Mónica Sanzo, Director of International Cooperation and Relations at UNE; Virginia Vidal, Director of Processes and Technology; Pablo Corrons, Director of Intellectual Property and Content Distribution (AENOR); Miguel Ángel Aranda, Head of International Relations; and Daniel Massó, Head of Knowledge.
