The Director-General of UNE and Vice president of ISO, Javier García; the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand; and the Executive Secretary of COPANT, Kory Eguino, held a meeting this morning at the SEGIB headquarters in Spain with the aim of strengthening collaboration between Ibero-American governments and standardisation bodies. The meeting took place in the framework of the visit of the COPANT Executive Secretary to Spain.
The Ibero-American General Secretariat is the international support organisation for the 22 countries that make up the Ibero-American community: the 19 Latin American countries that speak Spanish and Portuguese, and those in the Iberian Peninsula - Spain, Portugal and Andorra. They support the organisation of the Ibero-American Summits of Heads of State and Government, implement their mandates and promote Ibero-American cooperation in the fields of education, social cohesion and culture.
The Pan-American Technical Standards Commission is a non-profit civil association, grouping together National Standardisation Bodies in the Americas. From 28 April to 01 May 2024, it will hold its General Assembly in Brazil, in which UNE will participate.
The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, is a global organisation whose purpose is to develop technical standards or rules that contribute to shared progress of society and the creation of a safer, more sustainable and competitive world. With more than 13,000 professionals, it represents Spain in international (ISO and IEC), European (CEN-CENELEC and ETSI) and American (COPANT) standardisation bodies.
