Spanish leadership
Spain is an international leader in blockchain and DLT standards. UNE has been involved in this international committee from the start, playing a significant role in its management and strategic development. One notable achievement is Standard UNE 71307-1 Decentralized Identity Management Model based on Blockchain and other Distributed Ledger Technologies. Part 1: Reference Framework, the first global standard for managing decentralized digital identities based on blockchain and DLT technologies. This standard provides a framework for the issuance, administration and decentralized use of attributes that characterize and identify individuals or organizations, allowing entities to create and control their digital identity autonomously. After its national success, it was elevated to a European standard, and it provided the basis for the development of two ISO standards.
The meeting programme includes several sessions of the Committee's Working Groups. In addition, under the auspices of the Bank of Spain, on Tuesday 4 June a side event will be held together with Advisory Group TC307/AG3 “Digital currencies" and the ISO/TC 68 Committee, “Financial services", in the Bank of Spain branch in Valladolid; to discuss the potential use of DLT in the implementation and distribution of the digital currencies of central banks.
Also on the agenda, on Wednesday 5 June, the open social event will be held, sponsored by INATBA, to present its role in high-level developments related to blockchain technology and its applications. Representatives from INATBA, the Regional Government of Castile and León, UNE and the European Commission will take part.
The week will close out with the plenary meeting of the international Technical Standardization Committee ISO/TC 307, which will be attended by a large Spanish delegation, including representatives of KRON WORLD, AIRBUS, CSIC, Bank of Spain, Asociación Reacción Económica, Halborn, and others, demonstrating Spain's firm commitment to standardization in the field of blockchain and DLT.
