Strategy 2025, which gives continuity to Plan 2019-2021, sets the pace towards where UNE will be directing its efforts to achieve its vision: to promote the competitiveness of companies and the development of society with standards that generate trust.
28 June 2021. The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, has presented its Strategy 2025, which aims to help Spanish society overcome its major challenges through standardization and international cooperation activities.
This ambitious Plan, approved by its members and the constituent Public Administrations in its governing bodies, is based on three strategic objectives: to provide solutions to the challenges facing society, to carry out the digital transformation of the entity, and to be recognised as an exemplary organisation in Spanish society and business.
For Javier García, CEO of UNE:
"These objectives, which follow on from the 2019-2021 Strategic Plan, mark with an appropriate level of detail the steps towards which we must direct our efforts over the coming years to achieve UNE's vision of boosting the competitiveness of companies and the development of society with standards that generate trust".
The three strategic objectives will also contribute to maximising UNE's impact and facilitating international collaboration for Spanish professionals to develop the standards and cooperation projects they need. UNE is a successful model of public-private collaboration.
The UNE Strategy for the period 2022 to 2025 was defined according to the elements that define the economic, social, technological and environmental context in which standardisation and cooperation activities can contribute decisively to achieving this strategy.
The UNE Strategy 2025 is coherent and aligned with the corresponding 2030 strategies of standardisation bodies both in Europe (CEN and CENELEC) and internationally (ISO and IEC).
It also considers the contribution of UNE and technical standards to the fulfilment of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More than 4,000 UNE standards help society achieve the SDGs. For each Goal of this Strategy, an effort has been made to visualise its contribution to the success of Agenda 2030.
These strategic objectives reflect UNE's ambition to continue providing unique value to Spanish business and public administrations, as demonstrated during the COVID-19 crisis, in which UNE made a significant contribution through focused efforts on alleviating the health emergency and supporting economic recovery.
These three strategic objectives are:
1. UNE provides solutions for the challenges facing society.
To achieve this, the Spanish standardisation body will develop relevant standards and cooperation projects that meet current and future challenges, making efforts to ensure that the standards needed reach the market at the right time.
As strategic axes, UNE is intent on helping to make Spain a more resilient country, supporting the Ecological and Energy Transition and the Digital Transformation of the Spanish business fabric, contributing to addressing social challenges, accelerating access to the market for the results of innovation projects and strengthening the multilateral international trade system, particularly in the European Union Internal Market.
We attach a short video that explains this first objective in a very simple and informative way.
2. UNE carries out its digital transformation
To achieve this, UNE will be committed to digitalisation in order to facilitate the participation of Spanish professionals in standardisation processes and the subsequent application of standards, in particular SMEs.
Among the priorities set by UNE it plans to produce standards in formats that meet the digitalisation needs of organisations, transform the process of developing standards, transform the UNE financing model to the digital era and safeguard UNE professionals, seeking their digital training.
3.UNE is recognised as an exemplary organisation in its ecosystem
UNE's credibility is based on its reputation and the robustness of its regulations and work procedures, and to this end it will implement practical improvements In Good Corporate Governance, reinforcing communication on the benefits of standardisation for Spanish society or promoting quality infrastructure in Spain, among other actions.
Following on from the 2019-2021 Plan
UNE's 2025 Strategy is a continuation of the current 2019-2021 Strategic Plan, which aims to help companies and institutions to drive the implementation of the standards they need to meet their major challenges.
2020 was its second year of implementation, with a positive result and a 79% degree of compliance, between the actions implemented and those in progress.
