New regulations for Approved Tachograph Centres

• A tachograph is a device fitted to road vehicles transporting freight and people and which automatically records their speed and distance. Thus, technical centres that install, verify and repair these devices play an important role in road safety transport.

• The new Royal Decree 125/2017, due to become effective on 25/05/2017, establishes the requirements for approved tachograph centres, and determines that, in order to become an authorised centre, the centre's procedures must be certified in accordance with the new Standard UNE 66102.

• The UNE 66102 is the result of an agreement between agents of the sector and the public administrations in charge of their inspection and monitoring, who have participated in its preparation, within the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification, UNE.

• Certification in accordance with this standard, accredited by the National Accreditation Body (ENAC) will be a necessary and sufficient condition to obtain and maintain the validity of authorisation of Approved Tachograph Centres.
