Spain, a world leader in standards for smart cities

13/10/2017

14th October, World Standards Day: “Standards make cities smarter".

• Spanish standards for smart cities are the basis for developing international standards. The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is expected to publish the first two standards promoted by Spain in 2018.

• The Spanish standards catalogue reaches 32,350 regulatory documents.

• Standards have economic benefits, constituting up to 5% of a company's sales revenue, according to a study carried out by ISO on companies from different countries. In terms of the Spanish economy as a whole, standards already make up 1% of the GDP.
