The Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, today presented the UNE Awards that recognise outstanding contributions to standardisation in different spheres. These prizes were set up three years ago in the university field to promote interest among students in technical standards - and awareness of their importance - in the professional, commercial, and legal fields. This year, the scope of the prizes has been expanded to other fields, with the goal of extending the recognition of the work of other professionals and organisations in promoting the role of standardisation. Two new categories have been created for this purpose: UNE Prize for Integration of Standardization in Innovation, which recognizes contributions made to integrate standards into R&D&I activities, and the Chairman, Secretary and Member Prizes, which distinguish people and organizations for their involvement in developing technical standards within the UNE's Technical Standardization Committees (TSCs). The prizes were awarded this morning during the event “Support of standards for the deployment of public policies”, which was held at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism as part of World Standards Day, which took place on 14 October.

UNE Prize for Integration of Standardisation in Innovation
In this field, the prize has been awarded to Isabel Lacave, from ACCIONA Construcción, coordinator of the Horizon 2020 BRESAER R&D&I project “Innovative adaptable enclosure solutions for building renovations”. Through this prize, UNE recognises people and organisations that stand out for their contributions in integrating standardisation into R&D&I activities. The BRESAER project is a case in which standardisation has been given particular consideration and which is expected to yield significant results.
UNE is the European standardisation body that participates in the highest number of R&D&I projects within Horizon 2020, the leading European project for the financing of innovative programmes that help researchers and companies to introduce their products or technologies onto the market through the use of technical standards.
