FAQ - Free access standards

In this exceptional situation of global pandemic, the main objective is to help companies that have had to change their production lines to manufacture the equipment needed in the short term to deal with the health crisis. Using these standards enables companies to ensure the safety of hygiene and personal protective equipment, as well as providing the key requirements for their correct manufacture and testing in the case of imported equipment.

The collection of standards made available free of charge was selected by the national and European authorities and constitutes an exceptional and transitory measure that has also served to highlight the importance of technical standards and the trust they convey to society.

Standards are the end result of intensive consensus work among experts and standardization technicians who must ensure the independence and financing of their development. The main source of funding for national and international standardization organizations is precisely through payment for access to information on the standards they develop. Without these revenues, it would not be possible to develop standards in the current model; or on the national scale, or make it possible for the voice of Spanish sectors to be heard when European or global standards are drawn up.

This collection of standards has been provided free of charge to users as a contribution from the Spanish Association for Standardization during the health crisis.
