The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, is organizing the UNE Meeting dedicated to the Prospective Study of Bioplastics and its associated standardization activity, to be held on Friday, 7 November 2025, online through Teams.
During the event, the contents of the Prospective Study will be presented and the current situation of the bioplastics sector will be analysed. The session will begin with a welcome and presentation of the study by Rafael Postigo, Standardization Project Manager for Industry and Equipment at UNE, followed by an analysis of the sector’s situation by María Mozo, Head of the Biodegradability and Compostability Laboratory at AIMPLAS.
Next, the session will address new applications of bioplastics, the challenges of circularity and sustainability, and the role of standardization, with Fuensanta Monzó, R&D Project Manager at CETEC. The use and applications of biodegradable and compostable materials will be discussed by Ángela Osma, Secretary General of ASOBIOCOM, and the new technical standardisation body on bioplastics will be introduced by Sandra Correal, Secretary of CTN-UNE 53 “Plastics and Rubber” at ANAIP. The session will conclude with a Q&A segment and the closing remarks.
