On Tuesday 1 April, the
Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, held a
welcome ceremony at its headquarters for the
23 new members who joined its partnership base between February 2024 and January 2025. The event was attended by UNE's President,
Alfredo Berges; its Vice-President,
Luis Rodulfo; the Director-General and vice president of ISO,
Javier García; its Deputy Director-General,
Julián Caballero, and its Director of Standardisation Programmes and Stakeholder Engagement,
Paloma García.
The new members were able to learn more about the operation of UNE and the pillars of the 2030 Strategy, which will meet their challenges and needs, while they also explored the benefits of joining the Spanish standardisation body.
Being a member of UNE means belonging to a large national, European and international multi-sector network made up of the main business associations (200), top Spanish companies, SMEs, professional associations, civil society organisations, universities, research centres and a significant representation of public authorities. This means that the entity is a successful model of public-private partnership and one of the most respected, influential and powerful standardisation bodies in the world.
UNE membership distinguishes organisations with a superior strategic view of their value contribution to their sector and the Spanish economy as a whole. All of them are leading entities that have committed to standardisation to contribute to the shared progress of society and to the creation of a safer, more sustainable, and more competitive world.
With these additions, UNE expands its partnership base to more than 500 members. They are the real driving force and support of the Spanish standardisation system and represent virtually all of the country's business and economic fabric.
Individuals and entities interested in business excellence and social awareness have a place in UNE as corporate members (sector associations), members (companies and institutions) and individuals.
The new UNE members are: Association of Waste Management and Special Resources Companies (ASEGRE); University of Salamanca (USAL); Spanish Association of Industrialised Construction (OCH); Wanhua Chemical Europe Innovation; Spanish Federation of Wood Packaging and its Components (FEDEMCO); Professional Association of Electrical Installations and Telecommunication Companies of Madrid (APIEM); Business Association of Batteries, Cells, and Energy Storage (AEPIBAL); Spanish Society for Healthcare Quality (SECA); CIRCE Foundation (Centre for Research on Energy Resources and Use); Consortium of Official Associations of Graduates in Physical Education and Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (COLEF Council); Spanish Federation of Appliance Marketers (FECE); Spanish Association of Consulting Installations Engineers (AEDICI); National Association of Sellers and Repairers of Motor Vehicles, Spare Parts, Accessories and Related Items (GANVAM); PVC Windows Association (ASOVEN PVC); Spanish Light Metals Technical Association (ATESMEL); University of Valladolid (UVa); Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB); Professional Union; Plastics Europe ; Catalan Association of Energy, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technicians (ACTECIR); Spanish Association of Electrical Equipment Distributors (ADIME); European Quality Assurance Spain (EQA); and the Alastria Network Consortium (ALASTRIA).
