The Director of Cooperation and International Relations at the Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE), Mónica Sanzo, participated on 4 December in the International Seminar "Circular Economy and Quality Standards in the Manufacturing Sector", an event organized by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) in Peru, in collaboration with the National Institute of Quality (INACAL) and the Ministry of Production.
The event was part of the AECID project “Promoting the Circular Economy in the Tourism and Manufacturing sectors of Peru through the generation of capacities in the Quality Infrastructure".
In her keynote address, Mónica Sanzo noted the fundamental role that quality infrastructure plays in the transition and consolidation towards the circular economy of organizations, especially the family of ISO 59000 standards, which provide a framework of trust between public and private agents. She also presented the UNE Report “Standards to support the circular economy”.
The event was opened by José Piqueras, the general coordinator in Peru of AECID, and the closing ceremony by César Manuel Quispe, Deputy Minister of SMEs and Industry of the Ministry of Production. Both highlighted the importance of having the industrial sectors support the circular economy to make it more competitive, innovative, sustainable and less dependent on raw materials.
