UNE launches an open call to recruit a team for the revision of the EN 17210 accessibility standard.

​​The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, is launching an open call to recruit a team to revise the European Standard for Accessibility in the Built Environment EN 17210: 2021.

UNE heads the secretariat of the Joint CEN and CENELEC Technical Committee on Standardisation on accessibility of the built environment (CEN-CLC JTC 11), chaired by Jesús Hernández Galán, director of Accessibility and Innovation at the ONCE Foundation.

This open call for tender, which is part of the European Commission's standardisation request M/587, aims to select a project team composed of a Project Team Leader and three Project Team experts in the field of accessibility of the built environment.

This Project Team will contribute to Phase 1 of the ACCBUILT Project, which aims at the revision of EN 17210:2021, i.e. the draft European standard prEN 17210 "Accessibility of the Built Environment - Functional Requirements".

The draft standard is expected to result in a harmonised standard that would cover the accessibility requirements of Annex III of the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on accessibility requirements for products and services).

The first phase of the draft standard will involve the development of a draft to be submitted to a poll vote, the submission of the draft to a poll vote, and the development of an amended draft in accordance with the main comments received in the poll phase.

The application period for this open call for tender starts today, 3 May, and ends on 7 June 2024.
