The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, is the Spanish member of the IEC. Juan Alberto, with a PhD in Industrial Engineering, is responsible for Standardisation at Schneider Electric Spain. He is also a member of UNE and chairs the UNE national subcommittee on home protection devices.
With this award, the IEC wishes to recognise his contribution to the IEC/SC 23E/WG2 and, in particular, the work on direct current differentials by chairing the group created for this purpose. The award is also an acknowledgement of his commitment to studying and modelling the effects of direct current on the human body, his work in leading the group's safety standard on direct current differentials and his work on the future product standard.
With this award, the international electrotechnical standardisation body acknowledges the commitment and professionality of the experts who play an active role in developing technical standards in the international Technical Standardisation Committees.
The IEC 1906 Award was created in 2004 by the IEC Executive Committee. It commemorates the year the IEC was founded (1906) and is awarded every year to recognise exceptional recent individual achievements that have contributed to securing significant progress for IEC activities. Since its creation, 25 Spanish experts have received this award.
Juan Alberto Pizarro received the award at the last meeting of the Technical Standardisation Committees CTN-UNE 201 on switchgear and low voltage fixtures and CTN-UNE 202 on low voltage electrical installations, which took place at the AFME headquarters in Barcelona.
